Grow Your Future!

April 17, 2012

We are very excited about a new venture which begins on 23rd April working with
two Children’s Centres in Liverpool: Anfield and Knotty Ash.

We have designed a six week interactive course ‘Grow Your Future’ specifically to meet
the needs and aspirations of parents using the services of their local
Children’s Centre.

The course aims to offer participants confidence building, self-awareness and
employability learning experiences to help them to consider the world of education,
employment, training or volunteering and to encourage them to think about
planning for their future.

Information Advice and Guidance Training Session with Work Based Learning Providers

February 22, 2012

4 Your Future have recently delivered a Training Workshop for Work Based Learning Provider staff supporting young people. The event, hosted by the Greater Merseyside Learning Provider Federation at their office in Liverpool, provided staff with the opportunity to learn more about how they could use IAG to improve student retention, assess students needs, and develop IAG delivery in their own organisations. There was also the opportunity for those attending to share practice and learn from colleagues. The training was delivered by the 4 Your Future Team.

The Workshop a great success and was attended by staff from 11 providers across Merseyside. Feedback on the session was very positive, with all our delegates saying that they would reccomend the course to a colleaugue. A delegate commented that they felt the course would be useful for new staff that were unfamiliar with some of the concepts of IAG practice. Delegates all found the practical activities helpful in considering ways of supporting their learners.

Many thanks to the staff at Greater Merseyside Learning Provider Federation for hosting the event. Watch this space for further information about forthcoming events!

NEWS UPDATE: Please watch this space for further developments!

January 9, 2012

In the short time since we started trading in September 2011, we have been very busy building up our business.

We devised and delivered an Employability Course to Foundation Level students at North West Community Services, offering the learners a flavour of the job application process and a realistic mock interview to help them face their fears and boost their confidence.

As a direct result of this experience, one learner felt able to set up her own work experience placement and another secured an interview for part-time work to compliment her studies.

We devised and delivered a pre-Apprenticeship course to young people in Year 11 at Alsop High School. The Careers Co-ordinator in the school identified the need for some sessions targeted towards young people considering an apprenticeship as a viable career path, either at sixteen or upon completion of Sixth Form studies.

We were able to tailor our sessions to the specific needs of the students and we received positive feedback from all involved.

We have secured a contract with Myerscough College in Croxteth Park. We have been working with staff and students to address individual concerns. We have prepared and delivered a Higher Education workshop.  We have also organised a workshop facilitated by John Moores University.

Through these interventions we have been able to offer significant support to a number of students, particularly around the completion of their UCAS application forms.
